Understanding digital file formats will help you make the most of your digital camera.
MyPhotoServer supports the the following types of photo files that are compatible with most web browsers: JPEG, GIF (including animated GIFs)and PNG images.
JPEG
The acronym JPG (or JPEG) refers to a file format that is widely used by digital cameras (and by web sites that display pictures on their pages). JPEG files have a .jpg extension; for example, "photo123.jpg."
JPEGs are most popular because they hold a lot of image detail in a relatively small file size.
GIF
An animated GIF, created by using a Clip Motion mode is sort of a stop-action movie, where a series of picture are taken, then combined into the GIF file.
PNG
Portable Network Graphic can be used an alternative to a GIF file. |
